Source and update status
Listings are read from the public Business Transfer Daily Hong Kong dataset, preserving source IDs and text. The site refreshes its read cache on the next request after about 15 minutes. It shows the source timestamp and distinguishes live-source, cached and bundled snapshot data.
Classification and maps
The five sectors use the same rules as site search; business types and district names come from the source. Each listing belongs to one broad sector. Online, licence-only and unmapped labels are not assigned invented district coordinates. Map counts reflect active listings under the current filters.
Asking prices, profit and medians
Missing numbers are shown as unavailable, not zero. Source negative profit is displayed as an asset transfer under the platform's existing convention; zero remains zero. Category price medians use only positive asking prices: the middle sorted value, or the average of the two middle values for an even sample.
Payback is calculated only for positive asking prices and positive monthly profit and excludes additional costs. All financial figures are source-reported, not audited by this platform.
BTLPI and price histories
BTLPI follows the source publication: an equal-weight average of sector median new-listing asking-price changes relative to the baseline. No trend is fabricated while the baseline is building or samples are insufficient. Existing-listing price changes and new-listing asking prices are different signals, not transaction prices or investment returns.
Alert baselines and timing
Activation and preference changes establish a baseline from valid current data. Subsequent daily runs compare validated source snapshots. Failed, stale or invalid source responses do not generate new alerts. Daily digests are processed from 9 am Hong Kong time; delivery depends on scheduling and email services.
